can a 70s 350 mate up to a 90 gm trans?

My son has a 62 panel truck that he just put in a rebuilt motor in . Its a 350 out of a 72 c10. Now he asked me to ask you all if he can put a trans from a 90s pu in the old truck. So boys don't let me down, I know that you know the answer. Thanks

the automatic will bolt up.

Yes as Crosley said if its an automatic. Any of the GM TH350, TH400, 700R4 will bolt up fine as long as the were from a pu with a 4.3 v6 or v8 - I believe the 2.8 v6 in early S10s is a different bellhousing and won't work. If it is a 700R4 you will need to hook up the TV cable properly and get a lockup kit for the overdrive to work.

70s 350 mated to a 90s trans.

Hi all,
tanks for the replys, I knew that you all wouldn't let me down. My kid has a granny 4 spd and is looking to put a newer 5 spd in a 62 panel one ton. I told him a auto probably would but not sure about a manual. He was concerned that GM changed the bell housing shape. He asks me because I was a test driver, that doen't mean I get to know about stuff like that. so I asked you. Thanks again.
