desktop dyno a 350 please.

I have a 350,60 over +13cc dome je's,6 inch rods and brodix track 1 heads.I attach the cam specs. What I'd like to know is what HP gain would I see going from a victor jr. intake,850cfm BG to the brodix hv1002 and 1050 dominator.I've heard 35 HP gain. The block is gm and piston clearance is .004
and the heads are the not ported.3.48 stroke, this is a drag race only motor.

thankes in advance

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

I think your combo is pretty well matched as it is. I think the Dominator will be too big, unless you increase your cam size(lift and duration)considerably! What is your actual head cc and compression. I would try to get more out of your existing combo before you moved on to other components. Bump the compression up some more, plus keep in mind Track 1's aren't very large runnered heads, so a change there might need to be made before you can really expect to see a change from a bigger intake and carb....I believe you can get 35 HP from more compression and playing with your cam timing and a little tweaking....

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

well heres what DD says,

current combo
HP@6000 - 509
TQ@4500 - 505

New combo
HP@6000 - 514
TQ@4500 - 507

I did have to guess at some of the stuff

12 to 1 compression

and if your running gas or alch. (I used gasoline)

However by upping up your compression to 13.
HP@6000 - 525
TQ@4500 - 517

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

the block was deck .010 and the heads .020 .039 head gasket.I'm guessing 13.2 ish.I use c12.V jr. ports are small compared to the head.heads were 67cc

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

ran the engine thru Engine Analyzer using both the .050" cam specs and the seat to seat cam timing specs and came up with a 13 hp difference.

Desk top dyno says 11hp difference.

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

you DONT need a 1050 dominator......all it'll do is let the motor bog a bit on low end.

the 850 is plenty, the only way you might need a 1050 is if you put a blower on the motor.

and also changing intakes wont give you any more FELT power. True you might get 5-10 hp but why not take that $$$ and put into something that'll help the motor more?

like pulling the heads and having them ported and polished, or adding a pro-charger.

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

I have a 5000 stall in it,not somuch woried about low end.In the future i want the 434 and some 1x heads and will need the intake anyway.I allways buy used stuff becuzs i'm cheep like that.So to get more power I should do the heads up.how much port work do track 1's need.I am happy with the car I just have a 1050.Thankes for all the info and knowledge.

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

If your Track 1's dont have any port work done at all, then that is an area you can expect to get some good gain from. If you dont get the most out of all your parts in a certain combo, then when you change components like cams or intake or heads, it doesn't give you an accurate baseline to compare against whether one is really better than another. Here is a for instance. Lets say you have a friend that has a killer set of ported heads of another brand, and wants to swap you for your Track 1's and some boot. His car is very fast and you think I'd be crazy not to. So you get the heads and put them on your motor. I'll be silly here and say you pick up a 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile. You couldn't be happier. Your friend takes your Track 1's and ports them and put them on his engine, and goes 2 tenths faster than he did with the heads you now have on your engine....Did you make a good swap? You still went faster with his heads. But you could have had the potential to even go beyond that if you had done that to them yourself. I've seen that happen several times and is very true. Just get all you can out of what you have before you move on.....

re: desktop dyno a 350 please.

I know it's been awhile.I went to the track to run the car same setup went up on the jets in the rear 3 #'s and the car went 10.81 @123 with a slight tail wind fastest so far mph.before the car was 10.8? 121 ish.the plugs turn from gray to black.I don't think the car will go any faster unless the air got real good.

So theres a guy down hear named Larry Meaux who is a cyl head guy I can send my heads to.So if i was to get them ported what could i expect to gain and should I put the dominator on it then.If yall could rerun the dyno I would be greatly appreciated.(I have everthing to put the 1050 on intake, carb, gaskets just wating to do it all at one time.)
